Getting ready to go..

Jack helping Dad pack for camping!

So we're leaving Saturday morning to go up to our friend's cabin, but since we both work tomorrow and are heading straight to Blue October (yeah!) after work, we'll have no time to get ready tomorrow. So, today we went to the sporting goods store and got some NICE Helly Hansen raingear (you guessed it.. it's supposed to rain ALL weekend) Mine's an awesome camo color (bleh) but Jeremy thinks it's great so I can go HUNTING with him. Whaaaat?! Anyways, so we went to Costco too and got some snacks and stuff to make breakfast for 8 people-- We're doing croissant sandwiches with sausage, eggs etc. (You know--REALLY healthy!)
I still need to clean out the Pathfinder, PACK and find a sub for Sunday. I'm SO excited for the long weekend.. I haven't gone camping ALL summer and it looks like this will be as close as I get to it (Did I mention this cabin has NO PLUMBING!!) I'll have to take LOTS of pictures--3 WET days, 2 4-wheelers, and 1 crazy kid!!

Haircut!

Jeremy took the clippers to Jack this weekend. It looks SO short to me because he's been kind of a shaggy little boy his whole life. His hair just grows so fast and is so wavy-- I seriously think he looks like SUCH a little boy. Its amazing how fast time flies with your "baby".
Jeremy and I went out to his parents house this weekend to paint "our room". We are also going to remodel the bathroom attached to our room. We're looking into doing a concrete countertop in there plus paint, new flooring and possibly new faucet, light fixture and sink. We thought it would be something nice to do for his parents and we also get to enjoy it while we live there so everybody wins.
Our realtor also did an open house this weekend which was a bust. I guess less than 1% of houses on the market are selling right now. So, whatever. Looks like our dividend may end up going to land payments instead of student loans. I've decided I just need to step back and not be in such a hurry for everything to happen right when I want it to.
Sunday was such a nice day, we took Jack to the park to play and then relaxed at home. We havent done that for so long, sometimes staying home can be the best vacation!

Fall

I really cannot get over the fact that the kids are all back in school. When did Summer end? In true back-to-school fashion I got myself some new fall clothes and even tidied and organized my office for the first time in..well... since we moved in. And that was 2 years ago. I cannot bare the thought of moving anything that is not organized! Furthermore, don't even THINK about closing up that box, setting it aside and NOT labeling it. Grr.. my husband does this all the time. And no, "Stuff" is NOT a proper label.
Last year, I wrote a post about Fall being a renewing time of year for me. I'm still waiting for the nostalgia to kick in. Maybe that will happen during the one week that the leaves are colorful and there's not snow on the ground. (haha)
I broke down and bought a Modbe swimsuit for my trip to Mexico with Jeremy's parents this fall. I have quite a few suits but none that really fit me and that keep certain body parts properly hidden, tucked or what have you. This trip will serve as our winter trip for the year (we take one every year) but usually it is in January or February (you know.. the time of year where it feels like winter is kicking you in the face)
Anyways, next weekend we are going to the cabin, I'm excited for that... and praying for sunshine! August is our rainy month.. so we'll see. You have to 4 wheel into it, after driving for a couple hours. We're going to get me some proper raingear this week, just in case. Although, I am more afraid of bears.. seriously the older I get the more I worry about things like that. I don't know why, Jeremy always has a gun when we go camping or 4 wheeling.
So- I'm also trying out the new Modbe jeans (thanks again Mardi!) - I've heard great reviews. I'll have to let you all know what I think!!

Weekend Recap

Wow, it's been almost a week! Loser!! I wish had some exciting news like our house sold, or we won the lottery..but it seems that the latter might be more likely! I know, I'm a little over dramatic since the house has only been on the market now a little over two weeks. Everyone is talking about how the house market is going to "crash" any day now and all the homes will be halved in value. I'm getting so nervous! I guess no matter what, we'll be fine. We just won't sell, and will wait for the market to rebuild which could take years I guess. I don't really see any other options. Anyways, I know our house will sell and Im freaking myself out for no reason, just sharing some thoughts! Jeremy always says "Mrs. PMA" in his sarcastic way when I talk about the house not selling. (Positive Mental Attitude) I call myself a "realist". (Reminds me of the good ole days Becky! hehe)
Anyways, we had an Open House this weekend. And another this coming weekend. I'll keep you all updated, or at least I'll continue to whine to you all until it's sold!
I can't believe how much Jack has been absorbing, it seriously seems like yesterday he was oblivious.. now we have to watch EVERYTHING we say or do!
I put a little bowl of cheerios on his high chair sunday morning and started to walk away. I could tell he wasn't eating so I turned around to see what he was doing...He was sitting there with his arms folded looking at me. Oh. Umm.. I guess he wants to say a prayer?! Too cute. So I said a little prayer for him outloud so he could start eating. I never "bless" my cereal, who does that?? Haha, I guess people who are better than me! Anyways, it was cute and I'm glad he's learning such "good" habits. There's plenty bad ones Im sure he'll learn too...we'll just blame those on the rest of the family. (Just kidding) (Not really..haha)
Jeremy's birthday was last Wednesday. We didnt really do anything..so lame. Jeremy was working on some projects that needed completing before the Open House. I tried to get him to go do something fun. Anyways, we didn't. Happy 28th birthday, now get to work!
Anyways, our house looks great. My beds been made everyday for 2 weeks. Do you guys always make your beds?? I never have before. I like coming home to a "made" bed!!

Jack! Look at Mom!
Jack!! Over Here!!

I give up.

Jeremy with a smaller Red Salmon. Or trout. I have no idea.

The beautiful Kenai River.
I'm so SAD summer's coming to an end! This August has been so gorgeous and sunny. 75 degrees everyday. Next month we have like 1 week of Fall and then its basically winter. So, we are trying to get it all in while we can. We're going to a friend's cabin Labor Day weekend and camping the next with Jeremy's family. Is anyone else NOT ready for Fall??

Also, this is hilarious...takes a minute or two to view it...http://www.dancesisterdance.com/myvid/index.php?v=a862431711fcad

And so it begins..

This weekend we went to an engagement party for my friend Megan and her fiance, Kyle. It was at her parent's Lake House in Big Lake. The "cabin" (which is Not So Much A Cabin And More Like A House) was gorgeous. I wish I had taken pictures. The party was from 1-4pm and we showed up at 3:45. Nice, huh? It was the soonest we could get there. Jeremy went and did a closet install in the morning in South Anchorage and of course Big Lake is the complete opposite direction.
Megan's little neice, Kate, was there as well and was LOVIN on Jack. They were so adorable together. Is there anything as cute as when little kids hold hands or hug? (Or, as in the case above, put eachother in headlocks). Anyways, I got this photo from their very organized family website.
After the engagement party, we stopped by my mom's house to celebrate my little bro's birthday (11!) and ended up getting home around 10:00 (Late for us, haha!) He got Guitar Hero (Of Course!). Sunday was out to the Valley again (see why we're moving there!?) for "designated" family dinner night (1st Sunday of the month- Jeremy's parents house, 3rd Sunday- My parents house). We played the card game"Hand and Foot", which I still really didn't understand by the time we left that night.
Oh! Today I bought tickets for Blue October. They're coming to our State Fair. I'm so excited!!

This is your Love Test

OK, I am not a big TV person. But, somehow within just the last three weeks I started watching American Inventor. I think that this lady was my true inspiration to continue watching the show (can NOT stop laughing about this). What's even better, is that she is from Utah and is a blazin Mormon if I've ever seen one. She says the "Love Test" (click to watch) is her invention and she sings her song to help her through "her trials and tribulations". Is the word "tribulation" owned by the Mormon church or something? Because noone else says that. Ever.

Direct Quote: "I dare you to take the love test! Take the love test! / See how much he loves you / when he helps you clean up. / Is he kind to your pet / from the first day you met? / Hold on tight, he's Mr. Right./ This is your love test if you pass this, uh huh, you can be with me!"
Great Stuff.

Anyways, we finally called a realtor to just get our house sold. We were tired of dealing with it and haven't really done anything to sell it for a month now. So, she came and wants to list it for $20,000 more than we were. Which would be great if it sold for that or even close to that, because that would cover our realtors fees!! We're excited to see if anything happens, but not holding our breath for anything too soon.

This week had been good. I have only been in the office one day so far, so I've been able to get some much needed cleaning done! It feels soo good to have a clean house!

Jack's new word is "thank you" (muffled) and he says it ALL the time, for anything and everything you hand him. I love it when he does things that make me look like a good mom, haha!! Except everytime I go to pick him up from ANYONES house he runs away screaming. Then I have to haul him away kicking while I'm sure they're thinking that I must beat my kid. Does anyone else's kids do that?!
