Hippie Chick Half!
My sister Holly and I have been plotting for years now to run a half marathon (OK eventually.. a full marathon..but baby steps, people) We found this half marathon in Portland that has great reviews and winds along the Willamette river. There are live bands, Jamba Juice, Old Spaghetti Factory, The Body Shop with their foot spray, and plenty of tie-die on site to make the day great! It's held Mother's Day weekend so of course our Mom is coming as well along with my older sister Heidi. They will be walking the quarter marathon and Holly and I will be running the half! Wish us luck, I'm starting my training now. We already bought our plane tickets, have our accommodations etc.! I'll let you all now how the training goes.. I warn you it will be s-l-o-w..I can only run a mile right now! How sad!

How fun. I mean, running isn't fun, but a trip should make it worth it! Trisha is a seasoned 1/2 marathoner (she actually ran a full once too) so you should email her with any questions. I'm sure she'd be glad to answer any.
oh ran my first 1/2 maraton last year ... I am so excited for you. If you need any help. I can email you some great web-sites..
Oh my friend ran the race in Portland. It is a great one.
Wow! Good for you! Nothing like buying plane tickets to motivate you to train. At least that's the kind of motivation I would need:) I'll be cheering you on from my couch!!
do it, do it, do it!!! You'll be so glad you did & you'll have a blast along the way. Sounds similar to my race about a year ago. SUCH fun, Laura. I'm excited for you!!! Don't worry about the running part...it will come with time (just don't be hard on yourself). Think FUN! :-)
wow! you are brave! how fun to run it with your sister. i bet it will be so much better to train with her. what a great goal - i am jealous of your ambition. :)
How ambitious!! I still HATE running. I get the "itchies" still. My friend is a marathon runner and absolutely LOVES it....I just don't understand people...why go running just to end up in the same place you started?? I could just stay at my house and eat ice cream....that is more my speed. ha ha ;)
BTW- good luck to ya!!
Way to go! Training is more than half the battle...it may even be 98% of it!
Wow, good luck to the both of you. That is something I don't think I will ever want to do, but the trip would be fun.
WOW...thats amazing. I love to run, but I don't have a desire to run that long. I'm excited for you!!!
Woo Woo! Now I just have to actually start running!
Half marathons are the best! I ran two, both along rivers. Portland is so beautiful, you will love it! Good luck with the training, go slow so you don't get injured.
